USA Casino Deposit History
UIGEA-
USA Casino Deposit History hit a pot hole as Internet use expanded during the 2000′s. The US government sought to prohibit online gambling inside the US borders by passing the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006). Payment methods for deposits/withdrawals into/from an online casino for players in the United States have morphed considerable since the restrictive laws of UIGEA. This law was presented to congress attached to a large anti-terrorist bill a few short hours before it was to be voted on. In this way the Republican initiating party avoided any confrontation by opposition. Be that as it may the law was passed with do-process and is being enforced. The UIGEA is targeting financial institutions making it illegal to transfer monies for gambling purposes to any online casino. The line of attack for the US Attorneys' office was directed primarily at the online funding systems such as credit/debit card companies, banks and other transferring systems such as e-wallet systems. After corralling the US and foreign credit card companies the US Attorneys' Office went after the e-wallet systems and other Internet companies including Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, PayPal, FirePay and Neteller in early 2007.
Neteller
After the arrests of Neteller's co-founders in early 2007, Neteller withdrew from the U.S. market and stopped processing gambling transactions inside the US borders as well as from Canada. The US Government reached agreements with al of most of these large Internet companies within months after the initial attack. Each of these companies reached a financial settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and withdrew Internet casino related services to U.S. residents. Neteller reached its agreement mid 2007. It wasn't until mid 2009 that the U.S. Department of Justice officially dismissed their charges against Neteller.
FirePay
FirePay, side by side with Neteller, was one of the most used and trusted funding methods for online casino. FirePay, (Optimal Group Inc.), as recently as late 2009 has handed over $19,000,000 linked with online casino wagers by players in NY State. Even though FirePay backed out of the U.S. market right after the UIGEA of 2006 went into effect the U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of New York claims the NY State is owed money from wages made between 2004 and 2006. Many people are calling this “pay up or be prosecuted”, bullying tactics by the New York D.A. Firepay was focused solely on the USA market, unlike Neteller. There was no pace to refocus in such a short time. Firepay is no longer in operation for your balance to be returned, email info@firepay. From what I understand Firepay is paying all outstanding balances. It was once a very honorable and popular system.
PayPal
PayPal was acquired by eBay in 2002. It was a great disappointment for the casino world when PayPal abruptly made their exit in early 2007 from the online gambling community. But slowly she is reentering the market. This is being spearheaded with a few UK licensed bookmakers and online casinos. Starting with these consumers PayPal allows non-US instant transfers from credit cards and bank accounts to online casino accounts. Google is joining the recent movement by allowing certain gambling advertisements.
Casinos
By mid 2007 a whole new class of casinos and advertisements went into play for casinos. Most casinos with a large customer base of European and non-USA players, rejected all US citizen request for membership. But like FirePay in the financial sector, some casinos needed to keep their USA players or perish. The laws were focused on financial institutions. So the casinos with a substantial USA clientele repositioned themselves in their advertising campaigns as "USA Friendly" and continued operations as usual. In fact, because some of the casinos rejected USA play there was a vacuum in the supply of USA Friendly casinos. New casinos sprang up to fill this vacuum. A few of the more brazen even have the name "USA" in their titles.
So online casinos are plentiful. The problem was funding the player's casino accounts. The USA Friendly casinos didn't let their players down. They resorted to a variety of tactics by creating a few new methods and by relying on other older but more cumbersome systems. Some casinos even still use credit cards but with a twist by using a non-casino money processor. The labyrinth is a virtual Alice in Wonderlands rabbit hole… endless.
