The Five Models of Deciding Tournaments
Tournaments need to be designed fairly… for all players. This requires a variety of models. We need to include High Rollers and those who have smaller budgets in the same tournament. A better model than Game Win (top over all money winner) model needed to be defined. There are now fairly standard models to this effect that have evolved over the past years in the online casino industry. Below is a sketch as to what has been commonly agreed upon. This is not to say that all casinos abide strictly by these models. But you can expect to find a version of these methods at all casinos that offer fair tournaments.
- Balanced % Win
- Game Win
- 20 Best Consecutive Rounds- Balanced % Win
- 20 Best Consecutive Rounds
Balanced % win
Balanced % Win is kind to the penny slot players. What I mean is that it is based on a % of winings/losses and not gross winnings amount. A penny slotter can never beat a High Roller if we calculate raw winnings. But the penny slotter who has placed 100€ on the table and wins 1000€, can beat a High Roller who has placed 100,000 in bets and has won 150,000€. Who wins in this scenario with the B% model? It’s the penny sloter with 1000% winnings. The High Roller had only 150% winnings. How come the word “High Roller” is capitalized and the word “penny slotter” is not? Good question.
Game win
This method is kind to the High Roller. OK! time for the High Rollers to walk away with the prettiest girl at the party… again. But that does not mean they are better looking… OH No! With the Game Win method the High Roller wins the day. By a lot!
HIGH ROLLER BET 150,000 MINUS 100,000 = 50,000
PENNY SLOTTER BET 1000 MINUS 100 = 900
20 Best Consecutive Rounds – Balanced % win (20BCR/B%)
This is similar to the first method, balanced % (B%). The difference is that simple B% method, adding up ALL the wins and subtracting ALL the bets to get a sum, the 20BCR/B% method just adds up and subtracts the best 20 consecutive rounds. Well! only a computer could do that mental gymnastics with ease and certainty. Online casinos are computer system orientated. It’s not a problem to do in real time. If you look at an online casino tournament leaderboard during the first few minutes of a 20BCR/B% method game, you would see a lot of movement in the position of th players. After 50 rounds it has settled down a lot. The normal number of rounds in any tournament with any methodology for win calculation. has a 100 too 200 spin minimum. But then some go two days and you could spin 2,000 times.
Win = 100 x (Total Win/Total Bet) in best 20 consecutive rounds.
20 Best Consecutive Rounds (20BCR)
It’s the High Roller Pretty Girl scenario once again. This 20BCR method just takes brute financial resources to come out on top. But hey you could walk away with the prize on a low budget with the right finesse and luck… Go for it!
Win= Total amount won – Total amount bet in 20 best consecutive rounds.
Even Table Play
The Even Table Play method of deciding who won the tourney could be my favorite. It is clean simple and straight forward. All players start with the same bank roll or coins. The tourney has a designated time period of play. At the end of this time period the winner is the player who has accumulated the largest amount of coins using only the beginning bank roll alotted to the players in the beginning of that tournament.
